Emily Woodman-NanceClose the Year Out Strong!
by Emily Woodman-Nance

Nine weeks and counting.  As the end of the year is fast approaching what better time to reflect on your sense of self-fulfillment.

These questions may help jump start your reflection:

  • Is my business performing at the level I envisioned?
  • Am I on track to accomplish the goals I set for this year?
  • Are my relationships how I would like them to be?
  • Do my goals align with my vision for my personal and professional life?

What will facilitate you in closing out the year with a bang?

I have listed some activities that can help you close out the year strong:

  • Shifting your mindset from "what is not working well" to “what is working well
  • Participation in a networking activity that is outside your comfort zone
  • Reengaging with a long lost friend or relative that has been on your mind
  • Engaging in volunteer activities with the chapter
  • Getting someone to hold you accountable for your upcoming engagements for this year
  • Committing some time to help an organization or charitable cause that does not benefit you financially
  • Getting involved in activities that are important in your community

“Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, "What's in it for me?"
~ Brian Tracy

According to a study published in the Science (the world’s leading journal of original scientific research), 632 Americans were questioned about how much they earned and how they spent their cash. They were also asked to rate their own happiness. Regardless of income level, those people who spent money on others reported greater happiness, while those who spent more on themselves did not.  This research confirms the old adage, “it is better to give than to receive”.

“All successful people are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.”
~ Brian Tracy

Even though there is only nine weeks in the year there is plenty of time to end the year strong!  If you are reading this message your health is stable and you have so much to be energized about.

Just like an athlete looks back on what he/she did to become successful, it is a great time to look back at what you have accomplished and get energized about finishing the year strong.

Enjoy this time of reflection and happiness!

With warm regards,
Emily Woodman-Nance

"Find-A-Coach" Works!

"Over the past 5 years I have been an active Tier 1 participant of the ICF Orange County Chapter.  There have been many tangible benefits for me, most importantly, the personal friendships, the professional support and the on-going learning and education.  There is, however, one benefit, that I never really paid much attention to and that was the  “Find-A-Coach” section of the website.  Until now, most of the referrals I have gotten from ICF have been through the international website’s referrals or through the personal referrals I have gotten through our local community of coaches.

Today I want to share a recent success story that was a direct result of the ICF- OC’s “Find A Coach” service.  Several months ago I was contacted by a local university with campuses throughout the US. They were interested in providing Life Coaching services to their MBA students as part of an effort to fully support their students in all aspects of their lives and to help them get clarity on how they will connect their learning to the real world and their career aspirations. When I asked them how they had found me, they told me it was through the ICF–OC website. After a series of discussions and interviews, I am happy to say I got the assignment.  On November 1st I will begin coaching MBA students as part of this pilot initiative.

So the message I want to share is that the “Find A Coach” benefit can work for you too! If you haven’t done your Bio Page for the “Find A Coach” page, take some time and get it done.  This is a great opportunity to present yourself to perspective clients."

Marketing Made Easy

Lee PoundBy Lee Pound, the Write Coach

I have emphasized an important marketing principle for quite some time in my private writing programs so it was great confirmation to see that most of the top Internet marketers use similar principles in their marketing. This process works for all coaches as well.

What is it?

Most great marketing starts by determining the target audience long before the product is ever created. Unfortunately too many amateurs do it the other way around. They create the product then look for a market for it. This is a recipe for disaster.

Hear are the first steps you use in setting up your marketing plan and in writing your book:

  • Determine your target audience. Usually the best way to do this is to set up an avatar or typical customer that you describe in detail, including age, interests, fears, frustrations, and goals.
  • Find out what your target market wants to resolve those interests, fears and frustrations.
  • Decide what your program or book will give them.
  • Create your personal story in a way that it meshes with your target market avatar’s personal story. These two stories are the most important part of this preliminary process.
  • Once you know all of this, create your product or write your book in a way that it meets the needs of your target market.
  • Sell it to your target market.

This process is so important that you as a coach will have much more success in attracting your target market if you follow it carefully.

What else is there? with Allison Haynes

At some point in our lives, many of us realize we have been successful in our careers, we have our family and friends, we’ve travelled, or run a marathon and now we begin to consider “What else am I meant to do in with my life”?  It is the shift from “Success to Significance”.   Allison Haynes will present at our BCE about her recent trips to Guatemala building vegetable gardens and chasing her wildest dream, the end of global hunger.   Her efforts inspired a group of 8 women to join her on her most recent trip and to continue on their own journey of self discovery and making a difference.

ahaynesAllison will share her inspiring story of how she ended up El Remate, a small rural village in Guatemala, how she began working with a small group of 18 women building vegetable gardens and how that become a group of 75 women strong.  Allison will challenge us to consider our wildest dreams and will discuss a process for setting goals and intentions to see it happen in our lifetime.   Whether it is for ourselves or our clients, this story is sure to provide inspiration to all of us to make a difference in our own way.

"Transform Your Business Using Accountability-Based Systems to Achieve Breakthrough Results"

Presented by
Mark Samuel

  • Is it time for a major overhaul in your business or your client’s business?
  • Would you rather see the transformation to take place in three months rather than twelve months?
  • Could you use some new strategies for holding your clients accountable?
  • Are you willing to be held accountable?

Using an accountability-based diagnostic strategy, you can minimize backfires and achieve measurable transformation in record time. Experienced Accountability Expert, Mark Samuel, will add a practical diagnostic tool along with an Accountability-based strategy for implementing change, which produces measurable results. The newer coach will apply these strategies to improve their coaching business. By the end of the presentation, participants will have their own action plan for a practical application of the methods and strategies discussed.
